Festivity Galore Dusserhra
Dussehra, or Dasara, is one of the biggest holidays in Telangana, and schools close for about two weeks. Ramoji Film City marks the season with its Dussehra to Diwali festive celebrations: lights across the film city, a carnival parade, new shows and longer opening hours. It is one of the best times of year to visit, with pleasant weather and a festive mood.
When are the Dussehra celebrations
Ramoji usually runs one long festive season covering both Dussehra and Diwali, of around 45 to 55 days. In 2025, the festive season ran from late September to mid-November, and the Dussehra part ran from 30 September to 12 October. Dussehra 2026 (Vijayadashami) falls on 20 October 2026, so expect the 2026 celebrations to run through October. Ramoji announces the exact dates each year.
Dussehra ticket prices
In earlier years, Dussehra day tickets started at Rs. 1,550. Regular prices have gone up since then. As of September 2026, the Studio Tour costs Rs. 1,550 per adult on weekdays and Rs. 1,650 on weekends, and the Star Experience starts at Rs. 3,099. Festive packages may carry their own rates. Children between 33 and 54 inches pay the child price, and children below 33 inches enter free.
GoldBox Holidays sells festive tickets once Ramoji opens bookings. Book on our Ramoji Film City tour page, with or without a pickup bus.
What is special during Dussehra
1. Special entertainment
The regular day programme runs as usual: the guided tour of the film sets, rides, stunt shows and live shows. The festive season adds extra shows and events. Kids can spend time at Fundustan and the Borasura walk-through. The eco tour covers the bird park, butterfly park and bonsai garden. The Bahubali sets are part of the tour. In some past years, the Bahubali set opened to visitors only from mid-October.
2. The film city lit up
In the evening, gardens, streets and trees are covered in coloured lights. It is the best time for family photos, and the air is cooler after sunset.
3. Carnival parade
Themed floats roll down the main avenue with music, dancers in costume, jugglers, clowns and stilt walkers. The parade is the main event of the evening, so find a good spot early.
4. Longer visiting hours
On normal days the park closes at 5:30 PM. During the festive season, hours are extended into the evening, till 7 PM to 9 PM depending on the year. This gives you time for the lights and parade after a full day on the tour.
Stay packages
If you want to enjoy the evenings without a long drive home, stay a night inside the film city. Ramoji's hotels range from the luxury Sitara to the budget Shantiniketan. Rooms fill quickly during the holidays. See Ramoji Film City stay packages.
Tips for a Dussehra visit
- Book tickets early. Holiday weekends are the busiest days of the season.
- Go on a weekday during the school holidays if you can.
- Stay till the parade and lights. That is what makes the festive season special.
- Plan your return. City buses are few after dark, so a pickup bus or your own car is easier.
The celebrations carry on after Dussehra. See Diwali festival packages for the second half of the season. If you are in Hyderabad for longer, you can also add a trip to Wonderla Hyderabad during the holidays.
