Mysore Ooty Kodaikanal Tour Package from Bangalore

Mysore City Tour: A City of History

The name Mysore comes from the word "Mysuru", which is taken from Mahishasura, a demon. The story says that Goddess Chamundeshwari Devi killed him on top of Chamundi Hills (one version in our older text says Nandi Hills). From then on, people have celebrated that day as the victory of good over evil. Devotees pray to Chamundeshwari Devi with deep faith at her temple on the top of Chamundi Hills.

The history of Mysore goes back to the time of the Vadeyar (Wodeyar) dynasty. The city is widely called the "City of Palaces", because many large palaces were built across the old Mysore kingdom. Mysore is the headquarters of Mysore District, which is described as the largest district in Karnataka. The city is 150 km from Bangalore.

With so many palaces, Mysore is full of historical places. Visitors enjoy the fine architecture of the palaces and the beauty of the many good-looking sightseeing spots around the city.
