Our Kashi-Varanasi-Prayagraj-Ayodhya Tour Packages cover the great pilgrim belt of eastern Uttar Pradesh. Kashi, also called Varanasi or Banaras, sits on the Ganga and is home to the Kashi Vishwanath Jyotirlinga. Prayagraj, about 120 km to the west, has the Triveni Sangam, where the Ganga, the Yamuna and the unseen Saraswati are believed to meet. Ayodhya, the birthplace of Lord Rama, lies on the Sarayu river, roughly 200 to 230 km from Varanasi by road. Right now GoldBox Holidays lists one package in this category: a 6-day train tour from Hyderabad that covers Varanasi, Prayagraj and Sarnath. Tours that also include Ayodhya will be added here when they are ready.

Places you will visit

  • Kashi Vishwanath Temple, Varanasi - one of the twelve Jyotirlingas of Lord Shiva. The Kashi Vishwanath Dham corridor now links the temple to the river front.
  • Dashashwamedh Ghat - the evening Ganga Aarti here, with big brass lamps and conch shells, draws large crowds every day.
  • Sarnath - about 10 km from Varanasi, where the Buddha gave his first sermon. See the Dhamek Stupa and the site museum.
  • Triveni Sangam, Prayagraj - pilgrims take a boat to the meeting point of the rivers for a holy dip. The Kumbh Mela and the yearly Magh Mela are held on these sands.
  • Ayodhya - the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Mandir, consecrated in January 2024, along with Hanuman Garhi, Kanak Bhawan and the ghats of the Sarayu.

Best time to go

October to March is the most pleasant season for all four places. Winter mornings in December and January are cold and often foggy, which can delay trains. From April to June the heat is strong, so plan ghat walks at dawn. In the monsoon, from July to September, the rivers rise and boat rides may be limited. The Magh Mela at Prayagraj falls in January and February. Dev Deepawali lights up the Varanasi ghats on Kartik Purnima in November, and Ram Navami brings very large crowds to Ayodhya in March or April.

How to choose the right package

The train tour from Hyderabad is the value choice. The rail journey is long, well over 1,000 km each way, so bring snacks, a light blanket and something to read. Families with small children, or elders who find long train rides hard, may prefer a shorter trip once other packages are listed. Kashi needs a lot of walking, as cars cannot enter the old lanes near the temple. Plan at least one full day each for Varanasi and Prayagraj, and a separate day for Ayodhya. For a longer rail pilgrimage, see our Bharat Gaurav Tourist Train Packages. Pilgrims who also want Lord Jagannath's darshan can look at our Puri-Konark-Bhubaneswar Tour Packages.
