Tamil Nadu Tour Packages will cover India's southernmost state on the east coast, with Chennai as its capital. Tamil Nadu is famous for its temples, with tall carved gopurams and rituals that go back more than a thousand years. It also has the Nilgiri and Palani hills, long beaches on the Coromandel coast, and Kanyakumari, the southern tip of the mainland. Pilgrims, families, honeymoon couples and history lovers all find something here. There are no packages in this category yet, and they will be added soon. Meanwhile, several GoldBox trips in other categories already travel across the state.

Popular Tamil Nadu Tour Packages

Until this page has its own list, these related categories cover the main Tamil Nadu regions:

Places you will visit

  • Madurai - the Meenakshi Amman temple, the centre of an old temple city.
  • Rameshwaram - the Ramanathaswamy Jyotirlinga with its long pillared corridors, and Dhanushkodi at the tip of the island.
  • Kanyakumari - sunrise over the sea and the Vivekananda Rock Memorial.
  • Thanjavur - the Brihadeeswarar temple, a Chola masterpiece and UNESCO World Heritage Site.
  • Kanchipuram and Tiruvannamalai - great temple towns, the first also known for silk sarees.
  • Ooty and Coonoor - tea estates, the Ooty Botanical Garden and the Nilgiri Toy Train.
  • Kodaikanal - a hill town set around the star-shaped Kodaikanal Lake.

Best time to go

For temple towns and beaches, December to March is the most comfortable time, once the northeast monsoon rains of October and November ease. April to June is very hot on the plains, and that is when the hill stations are busiest. Pongal, the harvest festival in mid-January, is a good time to see village traditions. Big temple festivals bring large crowds, so check dates before you plan.

How to choose the right package

Tamil Nadu is large, so focus on one region per trip. For temples, plan 4 to 6 days around Madurai, Rameshwaram and Kanyakumari. For a cool break, spend 2 or 3 nights in Ooty or Kodaikanal. Trains work well for long distances, and a car is easier for local sightseeing with elders. Families with children often enjoy a hill station and a beach more than a long temple circuit. Many temples expect traditional dress, and some ask men to remove shirts in the inner shrine. Pilgrims staying in Tirupati can reach Kanchipuram and Tiruvannamalai by car through our Tirupati-Tirumala Temple Tours & Pilgrim Packages.

Frequently asked questions

When will Tamil Nadu packages be added here?

New packages are being prepared. Until then, the categories listed above already cover the main Tamil Nadu destinations.

Which is better for a first trip, the temples or the hills?

It depends on your group. Pilgrims and elders usually start with Madurai and Rameshwaram. Young families often prefer Ooty or Kodaikanal for the cool weather and open spaces.

Is it easy to find vegetarian food in Tamil Nadu?

Yes. Vegetarian meals, such as idli, dosa and full South Indian thalis, are served almost everywhere, especially in temple towns.
