Places you will visit
At Tirumala, the heart of every trip is the Tirupati Balaji Temple, with Papavinasanam, Akasa Ganga and Srivari Padalu nearby on the hill. In Tirupati town, the main stops are the Sri Padmavathi Ammavari Temple at Tiruchanur, the Govindaraja Swamy temple, Kapila Theertham and Srinivasa Mangapuram. The Kanipakam Temple, about 70 km away, is known for its self-manifested Varasiddhi Vinayaka. The Srikalahasti Temple is one of the Pancha Bhoota Sthalas, linked with the element of air. In Tamil Nadu, Thiruthani is one of the six abodes of Lord Murugan, Vellore has the Sripuram golden temple, Kanchipuram has the Kamakshi Amman and Ekambareswarar temples, and Tiruvannamalai is home to Arunachaleswara.
Best time to go
September to February is the most pleasant time, as Tirupati and the Tamil Nadu plains are very hot from April to June. Crowds are biggest during the Srivari Brahmotsavam, usually in September or October, and around Vaikunta Ekadasi in December or January. Weekends, festival days and school holidays are also busy, so start early for outstation temples.
How to choose the right package
If your Tirumala darshan is already booked, a drop or the up and down transport may be all you need. Add a local temples tour to see the smaller shrines. For one outstation day, pair temples on the same side, such as Kanipakam and Srikalahasti. Vellore, Kanchipuram and Tiruvannamalai are longer drives, so one or two of them per day is enough for most families. Elders will find a private car much easier than local buses. For bus, train and flight trips to Tirupati from other cities, see our Tirupati-Tirumala Tour Packages.
Frequently asked questions
Can the car pick us up from Tirumala?
Yes. Most of these tours can start from either Tirupati or Tirumala, as their names say. Check the pickup point on each package page.
Are darshan tickets part of the car package?
Please look at the inclusions on the package page. Darshan at Tirumala is booked and managed by TTD, and we cannot promise a darshan type or time.
How many temples can we cover in one day?
Usually two to four, depending on distance and queues. Srikalahasti, Kanipakam and Thiruthani, for example, are sold together as a one-day tour.
