Hyderabad, the capital of Telangana, grew around the Charminar, built in 1591 under the Qutb Shahi kings. Later the Nizams ruled here, and the city is still known for its forts, palaces, biryani and pearls. Big day-out spots like Ramoji Film City and Wonderla add fun for families. GoldBox Holidays offers one-day city tours by bus and by car, Ramoji Film City day tours and stays, Wonderla tickets, temple trips, and two to four-day stay packages by car. All of them start in Hyderabad.

Places you will visit
The old city has Charminar, Mecca Masjid, Laad Bazaar and Chowmahalla Palace. To the west stands Golconda Fort, with the Qutb Shahi Tombs nearby. Salar Jung Museum holds a huge art collection gathered by the Salar Jung family. Around Hussain Sagar lake you can see the Buddha statue, Birla Mandir and Lumbini Park. Further out are Ramoji Film City, the 216-foot Statue of Equality at Muchintal, and Chilkur Balaji Temple, popularly called the Visa Balaji temple.
Best time to go
October to February is the best time, with warm days and cool nights. April and May are very hot, often above 40 degrees C, so plan indoor sights for the afternoons. June to September brings rain showers. Ramoji Film City often holds a festive season with evening events near the year end.
How to choose the right package
For a first visit, a one-day bus tour gives a quick overview at low cost. Choose a car tour if you travel with elders, kids or luggage. Children usually enjoy Ramoji Film City or Wonderla more than monuments. Devotees can take the temple tour, the Chilkur Balaji trip or the Vemulawada day trip. With two or three days, a stay package lets you see the city without tiring days. Note that Salar Jung Museum is closed on Fridays.
