The Bangalore to Madurai Rameshwaram Kanyakumari Tour Package is a 4 days / 3 nights trip by bus that starts in Bangalore. It suits families and temple groups from Karnataka who want to see the three big pilgrim towns of south Tamil Nadu in one short break, without booking each bus and room on their own.

Route and travel

The trip begins with an evening departure from Bangalore and a night ride to Madurai. The road distance is roughly 430 to 470 km, so expect about 9 to 10 hours on the bus. From Madurai the road runs east to Rameswaram island, about 170 km away, and later south along the coast to Kanyakumari at the tip of India. The operator plan mentions a non-A/C sleeper or seater coach.

Places covered

  • Meenakshi Amman Temple, the heart of old Madurai, with its tall painted towers.
  • Other Madurai stops named by the operator, such as Alagar Kovil, Pazhamudircholai and Thirumalai Nayakkar Mahal.
  • Ramanathaswamy Temple in Rameswaram, one of the twelve Jyotirlingas, known for its long pillared corridors.
  • Pamban Bridge and the drive towards Dhanushkodi, the old port town lost to the 1964 cyclone.
  • Kanyakumari sunrise, Vivekananda Rock Memorial and the Thiruvalluvar Statue.
  • Suchindram Thanumalayan Temple, if the day plan includes it.

Tips for this trip

  • Night coaches can feel warm or cold, so keep a light shawl and a small pillow in your hand bag.
  • Mobile phones are not allowed inside Meenakshi Temple; there are paid deposit counters near the gates.
  • If you plan to bathe at the Rameswaram temple wells, pack a spare set of dry clothes and a plastic bag for wet ones.
  • Keep an original photo ID such as Aadhaar or voter ID ready for hotel check-in.
