Tirupati by train
Tirupati in Andhra Pradesh is the base for the Sri Venkateswara temple on Tirumala hill. Lakhs of devotees come each month, and many prefer the train. It is restful for elders, and you reach the town ready for the climb or the ghat road. IRCTC, the tourism company of Indian Railways, has offered Tirupati rail packages from time to time. GoldBox Holidays is a private company, not part of the railways. We help pilgrims find a suitable Tirupati trip and book it.

How a darshan trip works
The temple offers different queues. Dharma darshan is free and can mean a long wait. Special entry darshan needs a ticket booked in advance on the temple board's website. Check which type your package includes before you pay. Around Tirupati, many pilgrims also visit Sri Kalahasti, the Kanipakam Vinayaka temple and the Padmavathi Ammavari temple at Tiruchanur.
Planning tips
Book early for weekends, school holidays and festival months such as Brahmotsavam, usually in September or October. Carry the original photo ID used for the darshan booking. The temple has a dress code: dhoti or kurta-pyjama for men, saree or salwar with dupatta for women. Mobile phones and bags are not allowed inside and must be left at the counters. October to February is the most comfortable season. Summer days in Tirupati town are very hot.
