Reach Ramoji Film City Safely with GoldBox Holidays
Ramoji Film City is on the eastern edge of Hyderabad, on the Hyderabad to Vijayawada highway (NH 65) near Hayathnagar. From most parts of the city, the trip takes one to two hours by road, depending on where you start and the traffic. There is no train or metro right up to the gate, so every route ends with a bus, taxi or your own vehicle.
Below are the main ways to get there, with the good and bad points of each.
Distances at a glance
| From | Approx. distance | Approx. time by road |
|---|---|---|
| LB Nagar metro station | 15 km | 30 to 40 minutes |
| Koti / Abids | 28 km | 1 hour |
| Secunderabad railway station | 30 km | 1 to 1.5 hours |
| Hitech City / Gachibowli | 45 to 50 km | 1.5 to 2 hours |
| Rajiv Gandhi International Airport | 38 km | 1 hour via the Outer Ring Road |
All distances and times are rough road figures. Weekday morning traffic on the Dilsukhnagar to LB Nagar stretch can add 30 minutes or more.
1. By pickup bus (easiest)
A direct pickup bus is the simplest way for families. You board near your home in the morning and the same bus brings you back after the evening programme, so there are no changes and no waiting at a highway bus stop.
- GoldBox Holidays runs AC and non-AC buses from about 60 boarding points across Hyderabad, from Miyapur and Kukatpally in the west to Uppal and Hayathnagar in the east.
- Ramoji Film City also runs its own AC pickup and drop from select points, listed at Rs. 575 per person.
- During carnival seasons, private buses wait until the park closes at night, which city buses often do not.
You can see every stop and the timings in our guide to the Ramoji Film City bus with 50+ boarding points, and book a seat with your ticket on the Ramoji Film City tour page.
2. By TGSRTC city bus (cheapest)
Telangana's state bus service, TGSRTC (earlier called TSRTC), runs city buses that stop at the Ramoji Film City bus stop on the highway. The main routes are:
| Route no. | From | Main stops on the way |
|---|---|---|
| 205B | Koti Women's College | Chaderghat, Malakpet, Dilsukhnagar, LB Nagar, Hayathnagar |
| 207 | Koti Women's College | Chaderghat, Malakpet, Dilsukhnagar, Kothapet, LB Nagar, Hayathnagar |
| 224/205F | Hyder Nagar | Kukatpally, Erragadda, Ameerpet, Khairatabad, Lakdikapul, Koti, Dilsukhnagar, LB Nagar |
Route numbers and timings change from time to time. The first buses start around 6 AM. Before you board, ask about the last return bus, and plan your exit from the park around it. After 7 PM, city buses from the film city stop can be few.
Note that the highway bus stop is at the main gate. From there, Ramoji's own shuttle takes visitors to the ticket plaza inside.

3. By metro plus bus or auto
The metro is the fastest way to cross the city without traffic. Take the Red Line (Miyapur to LB Nagar) to its last station, LB Nagar, which is the closest metro station to Ramoji. From LB Nagar, take a TGSRTC bus towards Hayathnagar or the film city, or hire an auto or cab for the last 15 km.
Hyderabad Metro trains usually run from about 6 AM to 11 PM. Check the Hyderabad metro train timings before you travel. We explain this route step by step in best metro ways to reach Ramoji Film City.
4. By taxi or app cab
App cabs and private taxis are easy to book from anywhere in Hyderabad. They cost more than a bus, but for a group of four the price per head can be fair. The ride back at night is the hard part: cabs can be slow to accept rides from the film city after dark, so book early or keep your driver waiting.
5. By own car or bike
Drive towards LB Nagar and take the Vijayawada highway (NH 65). Pass Hayathnagar and look for the Ramoji Film City gate on the right side. From the west of the city, the Outer Ring Road to the Pedda Amberpet exit is often quicker than driving through the city centre. There is a large parking area at the gate.
Which option suits you
- Families with kids or elders: pickup bus. No changes, and a seat on the way back.
- Students on a budget: TGSRTC bus or metro plus bus.
- Groups of four with a car: drive, and leave after the evening parade.
- Arriving by train: see our guide on reaching Ramoji from Secunderabad railway station.
Whatever you choose, book your entry ticket in advance so you do not waste an hour at the counter.
