About Warangal Fort

Warangal Fort is the main historic sight of Warangal city. It was built in the 13th century, when the Kakatiya king Ganapati Deva ruled. Visitors come to see its finely carved pillars and arches. The fort has four decorative gates known as the Kakatiya Kala Thoranam. It is on UNESCO's tentative list for World Heritage status.

The Hyderabad to Warangal tour by car takes you from Hyderabad to the old Kakatiya capital and back in a single day, in a private cab. It suits families, small office groups and history lovers who want to see Warangal's temples and fort in a day, with pickup from a hotel, station or airport.

Route and travel

The car picks you up very early, around 5 AM, and drives about 145 to 150 km on the four-lane highway via Bhongir to reach Warangal by about 9 AM. You spend the morning and early afternoon at the Kakatiya temples and the fort. The Swarnagiri Venkateswara temple near Bhuvanagiri, about 50 km from Hyderabad on the same highway, is also in the plan. You are dropped back at your pickup point in the evening.

  • Ramappa Temple is not in this plan. Ask the operator about adding it, as it means extra distance and time.
