Hyderabad MMTS Train Timings
MMTS (Multi-Modal Transport System) is the suburban train service of Hyderabad and Secunderabad, run by South Central Railway. It is the cheapest way to cross the city, with fares starting at about Rs.5. This page covers the routes, the usual first and last trains, how often trains run, and the best way to check live timings before you leave home.

First and last trains
| Detail | Typical timing |
|---|---|
| First train of the day | Around 4:10 AM to 5:00 AM |
| Last train of the day | Around 11:00 PM to 11:25 PM |
| Peak hour gap | About 20 to 30 minutes on busy routes |
| Off-peak gap | 30 minutes to over 1 hour |
| Sundays | Fewer trains; some services do not run |
Around 80 MMTS services ran each day at the end of 2025. That is far fewer than a decade ago, so an old printed timetable is not reliable.
How to check live MMTS timings
- Railway apps: the official Indian Railways ticket app (UTS or its replacement, RailOne) and the NTES service show train times and running status.
- Station boards: each MMTS station displays the current timetable near the booking counter.
- South Central Railway: SCR posts timetable changes and cancellations on its website and social media.
- Enquiry number 139: the railway helpline gives train status by call or SMS.
MMTS fares and tickets
| Ticket | Fare (approx.) |
|---|---|
| Second class, up to about 20 km | Rs.5 |
| Second class, longer trips | Rs.10 to Rs.15 |
| First class | Several times the second class fare |
| Monthly season ticket, second class | From about Rs.150 |
Buy tickets at the station counter, at the ticket vending machines, or on the railway app before you reach the platform. Travelling without a ticket leads to a fine.
Useful tips
- Each train has coaches reserved for women. Look for the marking on the platform.
- Hitech City, Begumpet, Secunderabad, Khairatabad, Lakdikapul and Malakpet MMTS stations are close to metro stations, so you can switch modes.
- Trains are less crowded after 11 AM and before 5 PM.
- Keep a little buffer. Trains are sometimes cancelled for track work, and SCR announces this a day or two ahead.
For a faster, more frequent option on many routes, compare with the Hyderabad Metro train timings and metro fare chart. If you are visiting the city for sightseeing, the GoldBox Holidays one day Hyderabad city tour covers the main places with pickup and drop.
